I'm sure that you have heard the sayings :

the dog ate my homework

the dog made me late

the dog did this, the dog did that....

but what about....the dog chewed the crap out of my phone and broke it?! Honestly!

I thought that I lost my phone this morning but I found it in the backyard tonight chewed up and broken. Darn dog! That is one expensive chew toy Zeus!
